Mack Nievera-Pompey
Coordinator & Trainer | PVD
Hi, my name is Mack, and I am from a small town in eastern CT. I have grown up around dogs my entire life, specifically Golden Retrievers and German Shepards, which seem to be my favorite breeds. Growing up as an only child, my best friend was my golden, Rex, who I spent every moment with. As a kid, I would often walk to the neighbor’s house to see their two goldens. I love working with all of the dogs and families of Tails N’ Trails. My favorite part of working at Tails N’ Trails is going on hikes and meeting all the new furry friends. Helping the animals grow and learn every day is such a rewarding experience.
Selah Casey

My name is Selah and I am from a small town in Connecticut. I have always loved animals, but had a special interest in dogs and cats. Pictured above is Rocket, Golden retriever/Aussie mix, who was my soul dog and best friend for 14 years! He was the most loyal, energetic, smart and spunky dog that I've ever encountered, and showed me how amazing dogs (and all animals) can really be. As a pet owner, he taught me the importance of relationships with animals and how to be a patient, yet fun leader and companion - and I LOVED learning from him.
After recently moving to Massachusetts for grad school, I realized that this would be the first time I didn't have a pet in 15 years. Since I needed a job and primarily work with people, I thought it would be a great opportunity to find a job working with animals. I have always been a fan of Tails N' Trails' mission, so I am so happy to join the team! I can't wait to learn and grow with all of the TNT pets, and I'm committed to bringing my best while working with them. Fun fact: The tattoo on my arm is a rocketship, dedicated to Rocket!

Donna Schmitt
Walker | Exeter
Hi, I’m Donna!
After spending 34 years in the corporate world, I retired in July 2025 and decided to follow what has always been my true passion—working with animals. My love for animals started early. Growing up in the 1970s (before leash laws were really a thing), I was constantly bringing home neighbors’ pets and insisting they were “strays” that needed our help. That instinct to care for and connect with animals has stayed with me my entire life. I’m also a lifelong equestrian, with experience ranging from horse shows to hunter paces. Working so closely with horses has given me a strong understanding of animal behavior, body language, and patience. To further my knowledge, I completed Veterinary Assistant coursework through CCRI and am CPR certified, so safety is always a top priority in everything I do. Joining Tails N’ Trails has truly been a dream come true. I feel incredibly fortunate to spend my days with such amazing animals, and I treat every dog in my care as if they were my own.

I take pride in treating every animal as if they were my own. Whether it’s a long walk, a quick check-in, or simply spending quality time together, I focus on making sure each pet feels happy and well cared for.
I’m friendly, reliable, and easy to work with, and I truly enjoy getting to know both the pets and their owners.
Catherine DaSilva
Walker | PVD
Hi, my name is Catherine!
I was born and raised in Smithfield, Rhode Island, and I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember. I got my first kitten when I was about 3 years old—and I even tried to take it to school with me once… until my bag started meowing.
I’ve had both cats and dogs my whole life, and I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s always been my dream to work with animals, and now I get to do that every day.
I’m excited to continue growing my own little animal family and to meet even more furry friends through this job.
Jamie Bell
Walker | Newport
Hi, I’m Jamie! I absolutely love animals—I’m the person who goes to a party and ends up hanging out with all the dogs. My love for dogs started at a young age. My grandparents had a beagle named Daisy, and if anyone couldn’t find me in the house, it was probably because I had taken it upon myself to bring her for a walk around the neighborhood. Almost two years ago, I adopted my own dog, Georgia. She’s a Pitbull mix full of love and energy, and she definitely keeps me on my toes. We spend a lot of time going on adventures around Aquidneck Island together. As they say, if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life—and that’s exactly how I feel about dog walking for Tails N’ Trails. I love meeting new dogs, learning their personalities, giving them a fun and enriching day, and bringing them home happy and tired.
Steve Cardozo
Walker | Warwick
Hi, I’m Steve. I’ve had a lifelong love for animals—especially dogs and cats. From bringing my cat with me to college in Florida, to caring for cats during graduate school in Texas, animals have always been a central part of my life. After returning to Rhode Island, I adopted my first dog and have since welcomed three more into my home. Before joining Tails N’ Trails, I worked as a psychotherapist, which deeply shaped my understanding of behavior, trust-building, and emotional regulation. I have a particular passion for working with anxious or insecure dogs, especially those with past trauma, and helping them feel safe, confident, and understood. Friends and family often refer to me as a “dog whisperer,” but I simply believe in meeting each dog where they are and building a strong, respectful connection. Being able to walk and care for dogs at this stage in my life is truly a privilege, and I treat every dog as if they were my own.

Being part of the Tails N Trails team allows me to do what I love most—spending time outdoors with dogs and giving them the care and attention they deserve. I treat every pup like they’re my own!

Julie Kidwell
Solo Walker & Cat Care | PVD
I’m Julie and nothing makes me happier than spending my time with animals. I have worked with dogs and cats for over a decade. I spent two years working with a trainer, then I worked for a dog daycare for a little over 8 years and then I found Tails N’ Trails. I was lucky enough to be rescued by my rescue dog back in 2015. She was my best friend who I will never forget. Luna was her name and she was my everything. We rescued each other and since her passing I have been very lucky to befriend many of my clients pets and get to spend time with them. I love earning the trust of all my clients and building relationships with them. My goal is to bring them home happy and tired. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else, being surrounded by animals daily just makes sense to me.

Eve Tobin-Caron
Boarder & Walker | PVD & Bristol Counties
Hello! My name is Eve and I live in Barrington. I am a lifelong lover of dogs and have had dogs in my life as long as I can remember. After learning about the plight of rescue dogs and the immense effort to bring massive amount of dogs up north, I decided to become a foster with Rhode Home Rescue. We fostered many puppies and helped find them loving homes. As happens to many dog fosters, my family fell in love with two big, goofy puppies and decided to have them join our family. From there I began boarding dogs in my home. We have a nice size property with a big fenced in yard and the dogs generally have the run of the house! In Barrington we also have a lovely long beach with is great for dog walks as well a nice park nearby and lovely neighborhood. As my kids are getting older, meeting and caring for new Doggy friends helps to keep my heart and home full.
Danie Galvis
Walker & Sitter | PVD
Hello! My name is Danie. I rescued my dog Milky 10 years ago and she changed my life forever! She is a German Shepherd mix. With Milky being my first dog, I had to learn a lot of new things from the dog world! I fell in love with her and quickly learned how unique each dog is. It is how I found that my happy place is always next to a dog. Growing up my mom had a cat daycare at our home, so I've been surrounded by animals my whole life. I have been a dog walker since 2021. I find my job really rewarding and exciting. I give my best everyday and always want to give the dogs I care for beautiful experiences. I treat them all with love and respect, the same way I’d want my Milky to be treated.
